Back in 2020 when I found myself looking at the foreseeable future in Vancouver, I felt so stuck. It was so slow, quiet, and overall boring compared to New York in every way. As I was moving back to New York two years later, I realized slow and quiet didn’t have to be negatives. I had been completely unaware that I so deeply needed a change of scenery to slow down. It’s a privilege to be able to hit the slopes or take your stand-up paddleboard to a lake after work, and to live where the food is fucking good. There are downsides to every city, sure, but I look back to my two years in Vancouver fondly.
Some main neighborhoods to keep in mind during your visit are Downtown Vancouver, Gastown, Main Street, Kitsilano, Commercial Drive, Fraiser, and Richmond.
